Summer, 2015

After a busy and successful school year, it is now time for Summer, 2015!!! I must take this opportunity to say that I am truly blessed to work with the most wonderful group of students and families that I have encountered in my career. I thank you for the support and the enthusiasm that you bring to my studio and the work that we do.

We will have a scheduled break during Memorial Day week. The studio will be closed from May 25 – 31, 2015. Lessons will resume on Monday, June 1, 2015. This break has been factored into the tuition schedule and does not qualify for a make-up lesson or credit. Please remember that there are 4 additional weeks, beyond the holiday breaks, that are unbilled which creates a “cushion” for summer vacations or activities.  The studio bills for 40 lessons per year. In nearly every case, throughout the school year, qualifying absences have been made up so that these 4 lessons are still available. Tuition remains the same each month.

The final, scheduled break for the 2014 – 15 school year is the two weeks leading up to Labor Day. The studio will be closed August 23 – through September 7, 2015. The new 2015 – 16 school year begins on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.  Many plans have already been in the works….it will be another great year.

Saturday, July 4th, is a national holiday and the studio will be closed.

For planning purposes, the following are upcoming event dates:

Mid-America Music Association (MAMA) – 7/30 – 8/2/2015, in St. Louis, MO. I am not recommending this festival, this year as I cannot attend and be on premises. A couple of families are going so, if you are interested, I am happy to discuss the details with you.

Federated Music Teachers of Kansas City Honors Recital – 9/13/2015, students who have been invited to perform at this recital are Andrew Johnson, Jasmine Henry, Paula Sweeny, Elijah Lillie, Payton Benson, and Abby Bleish (the invitations just came – I will be notifying families, this week).

MMTA District – 9/27/2015 (possible scheduling on 9/26/2015, as well), location TBA.

KCMTA Fall Festival – 10/24 and 25/2015, Mid-America Nazarene University, Olathe, KS.

MMTA State Competitions – 11/8/2015, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO.

Thanksgiving Break – 11/23 – 29/2015.

Holiday Recital, 2015 – 12/5/2015, Schmitt Music. Recital A 1:30 pm / Recital B at 3:15 pm.

Holiday Break – 12/21/2015 – 1/3/2016.

Spring Recital, 2016 – 4/16/2016 – Schmitt Music.

Holiday Recital, 2016 – Schmitt Music.

The studio will offer lessons all through the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, this summer – if you wish to change to a daytime lesson for the summer, please let me know as soon as possible.

The Fall schedule is nearly full – if at all possible, maintaining the same lesson time as this school year would be good. Please do contact me as soon as possible for any needed changes.

This summer will see the implementation of a new Summer Practice Challenge and a new Goal Incentive Plan.  I see a fantastic summer ahead!!!

  1. Hi, I am a mother of 2kids 5 and 8 years old. And we are looking for a piano teacher. Could you please let me know if we can do trial sometime?
    Thanks,
    Kayo

  2. Thanks for the info on the upcoming events. That will help us workout the family schedule relative to when the kids should be at the studio.
