Aine Wendler Piano Studio Programs

The busy Autumn season is well underway for students of the Aine Wendler Piano Studio. I am listing the dates for two important programs, the Winter Recital on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Mid America Nazarene University, and the Holiday Program at Bickford Senior Living Center on December 17, 2017. I am, also, listing the dates for the upcoming breaks.

December Programs :

Winter Recital – 12/3/2017:        Our Winter Recitals will be held on December 3, 2017. Recital A will be at 1:30 pm and Recital B will begin at 3:15 pm. The recitals will be in the Mabee Recital Hall in Mid America Nazarene University’s Bell Center for the Arts. Recital assignments will be attached to this announcement.

The following guidelines exist to create the best possible experience for your children. I am adamant in my intent to provide an environment of support and respect for the children who are sharing their hard work and commitment:

  • All students are expected to participate in our studio recitals.
  • Please plan to stay for the entire I know life is busy but leaving a program before all children have finished playing is disruptive and does not respect or honor the work of every child.
  • Accordingly, please arrive on time – again, late arrivals create a disruption and the same lack of support and respect.
  • All performing students will be seated on stage in chairs – it is natural for them to experience some restlessness, etc. This is part of the learning process and something with which all adults need to be understanding and patient.
  • Recitals are a special occasion and, therefore, a “nice-dress” function – no jeans, shorts, flip flops, t-shirts, etc.
  • Please feel free to invite family and friends to share this experience with your children – we have more than enough space for all. I just ask that your guests follow the same guidelines.
  • Failure to observe the guidelines can result in forfeiture of your child’s place on this studio’s roster.

Immediately following the recital there will be a presentation of awards and group pictures will be taken onstage.

Holiday Program – 12/17/2017:  Last January, several of my students came to me with the idea of performing a Holiday Program for a senior living facility. On Sunday, 12/17/2017, we will be presenting this program at Bickford Senior Living Center, 5350 W 61st Pl, Mission, KS 66205 (just east of 61st Place and Nall). This program is voluntary; not a requirement. But, it should be fun and and rewarding with the spirit of giving. Participating students will be performing their holiday music from the recital as well as the parent/child duets that are being prepared. Several students will, also, be preparing some Christmas carols for accompanying a short sing-along. For the purposes of planning and organizing, please let me know as soon as possible if your child (ren) will be participating – all students are invited and we will have plenty of space for families to gather for this holiday event with the residents of Bickford.

Other upcoming dates:

Halloween (10/31/17) – because of the cancellations that always come in on Halloween, I will be utilizing a “flex day” on that day and cancelling lessons. No lessons will                                             be held on October 31.

November 20 – 26, 2017 – Thanksgiving Break. This break has been factored into the tuition schedule and does not qualify for a make-up lesson or credit.

December 18, 2017 – January 1, 2018 – Holiday Break. Following the holiday program at Bickford on December 17, we will be on break for the holidays.                                                                Lessons will resume on January 2, 2018.
